Common Problems
5. Not recovering
VI SERVICE DIAGNOSIS
A properly adjusted Keating Incredible Frying Machine (IFM), with no load, will cycle "On" approximately every 2-
1/2 to 3 minutes. Each cycle will last 15 to 25 seconds, ensuring that the temperature setting is held within a
narrow band.
Every Keating Incredible Frying Machine (IFM) has a number of safety controls to ensure safe
l
operation and guard against component failure.
A. Trouble shooting chart
The following diagnosis is only to be used as a guide to qualified service personnel. Keating recommends that you
use a qualified service company. Call 1-800-KEATING if you need assistance in locating a qualified service company.
NOTE: To correctly and quickly diagnose the system, the chart below must be followed in sequential order.
PROBLEM
Main power light does not
come on.
Blower light does not
come on.
Probable Cause
Gas pressure incorrect.
Thermostat not calibrated.
Overloading fryer.
PROBABLE CAUSE
a. Fryer not plugged in.
b. Breaker has tripped.
c. Main power switch is faulty.
a. Thermostat not turned on.
b. If blower comes on, blower
light is faulty.
c. If Over Maximum Temperature
light is on, Hi-Limit has
been activated.
d. If blower does not come on,
spark ignition module is faulty.
Solutions (Follow Sequentially)
Contact service agent to verify
proper gas pressure.
Calibrate the thermostat by rotating
the dial plate to match the actual
temperature of the oil.
Do not over fill baskets with food.
Do not overfill fryer with oil (check
the fill level stamped into the fry
pot).
a. Plug fryer into approved outlet.
Must be properly grounded.
b. Reset the breaker located on the
bottom of the control panel.
c. Replace the main power switch.
a. Set thermostat to desired temperature.
b. Replace blower light.
c. Reset Hi-Limit after oil has cooled
down below 425°F. Correct problem
which caused Hi-Limit to activate. (See
page 9)
d. Verify power to blower light and blower or
replace the module.
