you to genlock all devices connected to the Multi outputs to an external
genlock source (bi-level analog black burst for SD, or analog tri-level sync
for HD). To compensate for cable delays, Multi offers timing-offset controls
that align your video output relative to your external genlock source (see
"Specifying your genlock settings"
All Matrox Multi cards feature genlock loop-through that lets you use the
REF OUT connector to daisy chain the external genlock reference input
(connected to REF IN) to another device's reference input, as explained in
"Setting the genlock loop-through switch"
• LTC IN
which allows a third-party application to synchronize your Multi system
with a master time source device.

Outputs

This section describes the outputs that are available on the Multi card and cable.

• SDI 1 to 4 (Multi-Playback) / SDI 3 and 4 (Multi-I/O) Provide outputs
for use with SDI devices. Each SDI output supports HD/SD video and up to
16 channels of embedded audio. The independent and simultaneous SDI
outputs allow you to output different video formats at the same time. If your
Multi card includes SDI inputs (see
SDI inputs and outputs at the same time.
On Matrox Multi-Playback cards, outputs 2 and 4 are the key channels for
outputs 1 and 3 respectively. On Matrox Multi-I/O cards, output 2 is the key
channel for output 1. When your Multi card is installed and your system is
running, red LEDs illuminate the SDI output connectors. Connect an SDI
video/audio cable to a video monitor, VTR, or other SDI device. You can
also perform 5.1 surround sound monitoring through an SDI output by
connecting to a third-party device, such as an SDI audio de-embedder.
