7. Cleaning and Maintenance

7.2 Cleaning the Platen and Label Guides

1. Switch off the power to the printer and open the cover .
2. Open the print head assembly by pulling the head latch toward
the front of the printer. The print head assembly is spring-loaded
and will automatically open as soon as the head latch is disen-
gaged.
3. Apply any SATO approved cleaner to a clean wipe.
4. The platen is the rubber roller directly below the print head. It
should be cleaned of any label residue.
5. The label unwind guides and the label guide shaft used in guid-
ing the labels through the printer must be cleaned of any label
residue or other foreign material.
6. Repeat as necessary. The platen and label guides should be
cleaned whenever foreign matter such as dust or adhesive is
present.
