TROUBLESHOOTING
Faults
ABS warning lamp lights up
(990 Adventure)
High oil consumption
Headlight and parking light not func-
tioning
Turn signal, hazard warning flasher,
brake light and horn are not functional
Battery discharged
Combination instrument shows nothing
in the display
Speedometer in combination instru-
ment not functioning
Possible cause
Wheel speeds of front and rear wheels
differ greatly
Malfunction in ABS
Engine oil level too high
Engine oil too thin (low viscosity)
Fuse H/L BEAM, POSITION blown
Fuse HORN, BRAKE LIGHT blown
Ignition not switched off when vehicle
was parked
Battery is not charged by generator
Fuse ACC1, CLOCK blown
Wiring harness of wheel revolution
counter damaged or plug-in connec-
tor oxidized
Action
Stop, switch off the ignition, start again.
Read out the ABS fault memory using the KTM
diagnostics tool.

Change the engine oil and filter, clean the oil
screens.
