ERROR MESSAGES
ERROR
CAUSE
MESSAGE
You tried to poll a fax machine that is not in
CONNECTION
Polled Waiting mode.
FAIL
The scanner cover is not closed completely.
COVER OPEN
The other person or other person's fax
DISCONNECTED
machine stopped the call.
Print data remains in the MFC's memory
DATA REMAINS
because the computer is hung up.
Print data remains in the MFC's memory. The
USB cable was unplugged while the
computer was sending the data to the MFC.
The print heads are too warm.
HIGH
TEMPERATURE
One or more of the ink cartridges is empty.
INK EMPTY
The MFC will stop all print operations. While
memory is available, black and white faxes
will be received into memory. If a sending
machine has a colour fax, the MFC's
'handshake' will request that the fax be sent
as black and white. If the sending machine
has the ability to convert it, the colour fax will
be received into memory as a black and white
fax.
23 - 2 TROUBLESHOOTING AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
ACTION
Check the other fax machine's
polling setup.
Pull the Scanner Cover Release
Lever and lift the scanner cover and
then close it again.
Try to send or receive again.
Re-start printing from your
computer.
Press Stop/Exit. The MFC will
cancel the job and eject the page
that is being printed.
Allow the MFC to cool down.
Replace the ink cartridges.

page 23-20.)
