Best results are obtained by pre-
heating the oven.
The pre-heating time for 220˚C is
approximately 15 min.
Use the temperature and time
indicated in the recipe. Place the
food to be cooked on shelf 3.
Slow-roasting programme
This function is well-suited to
roasting lean and red meat
weighing up to 2500 g and uses the
top and base elements. The oven
heats up to 130˚C in order to close
the meat's pores, after which the
temperature falls back
automatically to 90˚C. The meat
can then be left to roast at low
temperature for a long period. This
ensures a very tender end-product.
The temperatures are pre-set and
cannot be changed. With this
programme you always start with a
cold oven. For roasting smaller
pieces of meat weighing up to 800
g, it is recommended that the meat
is browned on the hob before
roasting. Always use the electronic
roasting thermometer for whole
pieces of meat. It is difficult to
give a precise roasting time for
different cuts as this will depend on
their shape. The slow-roasting
cooking guide shows the
approximate times.
Defrosting
The ring element and oven fan are
used. This function ensures gentle
thawing of frozen products. You can
defrost on the grid or on several
shelves at once if there is a great deal
to be thawed up. It is impossible to
give times, as these will vary with
the quantity and type of food, but use
a skewer for testing. Defrosting is
pre-set to a temperature of 40˚C and
this cannot be changed.
Baking and other cooking
Temperature differences and/or
uneven distribution of food on
baking sheets may cause distortion in
the latter. This particularly applies to
frozen pizza, chips etc.
Insert a skewer in soft cakes
about 5 min. before the
expected finish time, so you
can shorten or lengthen the
baking time as required. The
result may be affected by the
recipe or by the material,
colour, shape and size of the
cake tin.
If using light-coloured metal tins or
china or glass moulds, place them on
a baking sheet. When using dark-
coloured metal tins, they must be
placed on the grid.
