Refueling

Fuel filler door
Before filling the tank, shut off the
engine. If you do not, fuel cannot
be filled into the tank and the Service
Engine Soon lam p may come
To open the filler door, press on the
front edge.
To unlock the fuel filler door if the
central locking system m alfunctions,
refer to page 188.
When handling fuels, comply w ith
all of the applicable safety precau-
tions and regulations pertaining to
fuels. Never carry spare fuel containers
in your vehicle. Whether em pty or full,
these containers can leak, cause an
explosion, or lead to fire in the event of
a collision.<
Simple and environmentally
friendly
Open the filler cap carefully to
prevent fuel from spraying out.
on.< Fuel spray may cause injury.
Do not top off. Topping off m ay cause
fuel spillage.<
Keep the filler cap in the bracket
attached to the fuel filler door.
When refueling, insert the filler nozzle
com pletely into the filler pipe. Pulling
the nozzle out of the pipe during refu-
eling
> results in prem ature pum p shutoff
> and w ill reduce the effect of the
vapor recovery system on the pum p.
If the filler nozzle is used correctly, the
fuel tank is full w hen it shuts off for the
first tim e.
Tank capacity: refer to page 209.
Close the filler cap carefully after
refueling until a "click" is heard.
While closing, be sure not to squeeze
the strap w hich is fastened to the cap.
A loose or m issing cap w ill activate the
m essage "CHECK FILLER CAP" in the
