Automatic climate control
Air supply
In the AUTO program, the
air flow is controlled auto-
m atically. AUTO w ill appear in the
display 9 (refer to the overview on
page 106). Use "+" and "–" to vary the
airflow . When your setting is displayed
by bars, the automatic airflow is
sw itched off. Autom atic air distribution
m aintains its setting. You can reactivate
the autom atic air supply by pressing the
AUTO button.
When you press "–" during operation at
m inim um blow er speed all displays are
canceled: the blow er, heating and air
conditioner are sw itched off. The
outside air supply is closed. You can
sw itch the system back on by pressing
any button of the automatic climate
control.
To defrost w indow s and remove
condensation
This program quickly
rem oves ice and conden-
sation from the w indshield and the side
w indow s.

Air conditioner
The air is cooled and
dehum idified and —
depending on the tem perature setting —
w armed again w hen the air conditioner
system is sw itched on. Depending on
the w eather, the w indshield m ay fog
over briefly w hen the engine is started.
Use the button to sw itch the air condi-
tioner off at outside tem peratures
below approx. +41 7 (+5 6). This w ill
help to prevent the w indow s from
fogging over.
If the w indow s fog over after sw itching
the air conditioner off, sw itch it back
on.
Condensation form s in the air
conditioner system during opera-
tion, w hich then exits under the vehicle.
Traces of condensed w ater of this kind
are thus norm
al.<
M aximum cooling
You w ill get m axim um
cooling capacity using this
program if the engine is running and
the outside tem perature is above
+41 7 (+5 6).
The tem perature display 9 drops to
+61 7 (+16 6), the system sw itches
over to the recirculated- air m ode, and
the air stream s out of the ventilation grill
w ith the m axim um am ount of flow . That
is w hy you need to keep these open if
you select this program .
