Place a suitableoil collectioncontainer u nderthe oil drainplug.
Remove t he oil drainplug.See Figure11.

Reinstall the drainplugandtightenit securely.

Refillwith the recommended o il andcheck the oil level;referto Checking
andAddingOilinthe Assembly Section.

Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick securely.
SparkPlug
DO NOT checkfor asparkwith the sparkplug removed. D ONOT crankthe
engine with the sparkplug removed.
Ifthe engine hasbeenrunning, t he muffler will beveryhot. Becareful not
to touchthe muffler.
Thesparkplugshouldbechecked every25hoursandchanged oncea season o r
every100hours. T oensureproper e ngineoperation, t he sparkplugmustalsobe
properly gapped andfreeofdeposits.
Remove t he sparkplug bootanduseasparkplugwrenchto remove the
plug.SeeFigure 12.

Visuallyinspectthe sparkplug.Discard the sparkplug if thereis any
apparent w ear,or ifthe insulatoriscracked orchipped.Clean the sparkplug
with awire brushif it isto bereused.
NOTE: Aresistorsparkplug mustbeusedfor replacement. Contact a Sears
Parts andRepair C enter f ora replacement sparkplug(Part#951-10292).
Measure the plug gapwith afeelergauge. C orrect a snecessary b ybending
the sideelectrode. S eeFigure 13.Thegapshouldbesetto .02-.03 inches
(0.60-0.80mm).
