Before Startingthe Engine
Read,understandandfollow ai[ the instructions a ndwarnings on the
machineand in this manualbefore operating.
Starting The Engine
Alwayskeephandsandfeet clearof moving parts. Donot useapressurized
starting fluid. Vaporsareflammable.
Toavoid carbonmonoxidepoisoning,makesurethe engine isoutdoors ina
well-ventilated area.

Makecertainthe augercontrol i s inthe disengaged (released) position.
2.
Insertignitionkeyintoslot.Makesureit snaps into place.Donot attemptto
turn the key.See Figure 9.

NOTE: The enginecannotstart unless the keyisfullyinsertedintothe
ignitionswitch.
Push the chokeleverto the CHOKE_q_ p osition.
Ifthe engine iswarm,place the choke inthe RUN __ I positioninstead of
CHOKEN.

Push the primerfiveto seven(5-7)times,makingsureto coverthevent hole
when pushing.
6.
Ifthe engineiswarm,pushthe primeronlyonce.
7.
Grasp the recoil s tarterhandleandslowlypullthe ropeout.Atthe
pointwhereit becomes s lightlyharderto pullthe rope,slowlyallowthe rope
to recoil.
8.
Pullthe starterhandlewith afirm, rapidstroke.Donot release
the handleandallowit to snapback.Keep afirm holdon the starterhandle
andallowit to slowlyrecoil.
9.
Allowthe engineto warmup several minutes,adjusting choketoward
RUN __ _position. W ait untilenginerunssmoothlybeforeeachchoke
M
adjustment.
Stopping the Engine
1.
Run the engineforafew minuteswithoutengaging the augerbefore
stoppingto helpdry off anymoisture onthe engine.
2.
Tostopthe engineremove the keyandstoreit in asafeplace.
3.
Wipeall the snowandmoistureawayfromthe enginecontrols area.
Muffler, engine and surroundingareasbecomehotandcancausea burn.
Becareful anddo not touchwhen they are hot.
Engagingthe Auger
Engage the augerbysqueezing the augercontrolagainst t he upperhandle.Release
the controlto stoptheauger.
Engagingthe Drive
Lift upslightlyon the upperhandle to allowthe rubberpaddles on theaugerto
contactthe pavement a ndpropel t he snowthrowerforward.Pushing downwardon
the handlewill raisethe augeroffthe groundandstopthe forwardmotion.
NOTE: E xcessive upwardpressure onthe handlewill resultin premature
wearto the rubberaugerpaddles, whichwill not becovered bythe warranty.
Clearinga CloggedDischarge Chute
Hand contactwith the rotatingimpellerinsidethe discharge c huteisthe most
common cause of injuryassociated w ith snowthrowers.Never u seyourhandto
cleanout the discharge chute.
Toclearthe chute:
1.
SHUTTHE E NGINE OFF!
2.
Wait 10seconds to besurethe impellerbladeshavestoppedrotating.
3.
Alwaysuseaclean-outtool orstick,not yourhands.
