Myriad 2 plates are made from a durable, scratch-resistant polyester
based material designed to resist excess scumming and inking on the
printing blanket. Unlike disposable plates made of paper and other
materials, these plates produce brilliant halftones up to 15,000
impressions under optimum conditions without an external fuser.
Myriad 2 plates are manufactured by Agfa and distributed
exclusively by XANTÉ for use with our PlateMaker printers.
Myriad 2 plates run well with rubber, acrylic, and oil-based inks and
most universal fountain solutions. You can use some silver-based
fountain solutions, but results are not reliable. Test the solution
before using it on a final product.
The fast ink-up capacity of Myriad 2 plates results in a shorter initial
run to provide tone-free printing. These plates require a run of
approximately 50 sheets after a dry start-up and approximately 10
sheets after stopping and reactivating the dampening system.
Caution:
Do not use conventional plate cleaners or blanket washes
on Myriad 2 plates. These may dissolve the toner image.
Note:
XANTÉ guarantees print quality only on Myriad 2 polyester
offset printing plates manufactured for the PlateMaker by Agfa.
Always use the multipurpose feeder when printing plates.
Use only direct plate materials that can handle laser printing
temperatures.
Avoid handling plates to prevent fingerprints and scratches.
Keep the printer clean. See chapter 9 for cleaning instructions.
Punch the plate after it is printed to prevent rough edges from
damaging the PlateMaker printer.
Allow enough space at the plate edges for the press gripper.
Load fewer plates if jams occur.
Remove each plate as it prints to help prevent static buildup.
