the pulleygroove.Whilealigningthe pulleyslotsandadapterposts, p ush
the augerpulleyfullyontothe adapter. R eferto Figure 35.Ensure the brake
puckof the brakebracket a ssembly alignsandisfullyseatedinthe pulley
groove.
NOTE: I f the pulleyadapterwasremoved with the pulley, a lignthe splines
of the pulleyadapterandaugerinputshaft,andpushthe pulleyandadapter
ontothe inputshaft.Refer t o Figure 35.
9. Slide the washer ontothe hexscrewremoved earlierandapplyLoctite262to
the threads ofthe hexscrew.
10. Insertthe hexscrew throughthe pulleyassembly a ndinto the threads of
the inputshaft.Torque the hexscrew to 250-325in.Ibs.to secure the auger
pulleyassembly onthe inputshaft.
11. If alsoreplacing the drivebelt, proceed to the "DriveBelt"instructions. I f
not,reposition the transmission f ramebackontotheaugerhousing.
12. Installthe drivebelton the enginepulley,re-connect t he augercable
z-fitting andaugeridler rodferruletothe brakebracket. R eposition a nd
secure the enginepulleybeltguard,andre-install t he belt cover.
NOTE: Makesureto remove the pieceof woodblockingthe impeller.
Check the augerdrivebelt adjustment.With the augerclutchleverinthe
disengaged position, t he top surface of the newbeltshouldbeevenwith the
outside diameterof the pulley.
Toadjust,disconnect ferrulefrom brakebracketassembly. Thread ferrulein
(towards idler)to increase tension on belt, orout to decrease b elt tension.
NOTE: Thebrakepuckmustalwaysbefirmly seatedinthe pulleygroovewhen
augercontrolisdisengaged.
IMPORTANT: Repeat t he "AugerDriveControl T est"from theAssembly section
beforeoperatingsnowthrower.
Drive Belt Replacement
If not already done,remove the augerdrivebeltfrom the front pulleyof the engine
doublepulley.Refer t o "AugerBeltReplacement" instructionsinthe previous
sub-section.

Pullthe idlerpulleyawayfrom the backside of the drivebeltto relieve
the tension. S eeFigure 36.
Slipthedrivebeltoff the idlerpulley.Carefully release the idler pulley.
1. Rollthedrivebeltoffthe lowerdrivepulley.
2. Remove t he beltfrom the enginepulley.
3. Installthe newbelt onthe pulleysinthe reverse orderandre-tension with
the idlerpulley.
4. Reassemble byperformingthe previous stepsinthe opposite orderand
manner o f removal.
Changing Friction Wheel
Therubberon the frictionwheelissubjectto wearandshouldbechecked
periodically. R eplace t he frictionwheelifanysigns of wearor cracking arefound.
1. Run the unit'sfueltank dry beforeperformingStep2. Donot attemptto
pourfuel from theengine.
2. Tipthe snowthrowerupandforward,sothat it restson the housing.
3. Remove s crews from the framecoverunderneath the snowthrower(referto
Figure 37).Remove t he right wheelfrom the axle.
