Holdingthe frictionwheelassembly, slidethe hexshaftout ofthe friction
wheelassembly andthe right sideofthe frame.Thespacer o n the left side
ofthe hexshaftwill fall andthe sprocket s houldremainhangingloseinthe
chain.
Lift the frictionwheelassembly o ut betweenthe axleshaftandthe drive
shaftassemblies.
Remove f our screws securing the frictionwheeltothe hubassembly (referto
Figure 39).Discard o ld frictionwheel.

Reassemble the newfrictionwheelontothe hubassembly, tighteningthe
fourscrews inrotationandwith equalforce.It isimportantto assemble the
frictionwheelsymmetrically f or properfunctioning.
Reposition t he frictionwheelassembly inthe snowthrowerframe.Insertthe
pinfrom the speed selectorarmassembly into the frictionwheelassembly
andhold assembly i n position. R eferto Figure 40.

sprocket, a lignthe hexshaftwith the hexhubof the smallsprocket, a nd
slidethe shaftthroughthe sprocket.
NOTE: I fthe sprocket f ellfromthe snowthrowerwhileremoving the hex
shaft,place the sprocket o n thechain.Realign the sprocket o n thechainwith
the hexhubfacingthe right sideof unit. Position the hexhubof the sprocket
towardthe frictionwheelwhenslidingthe sprocket o nto the hexshaft.
12. Slidethe spacer o ntothe endof the hexshaft.

13. Alignthe bearing on the right endofthe hexshaftwith the hole
in the rightsideof the frame,thenpushthe hexshaftto the left
into positioninthe frame.
14. Slidethe bearing ontothe left endofthe hexshaftandpressinto
the holeon the left sidethe frame.

Place the belleville washer(rounded sidetowardhead)ontothe
hexscrewremoved earlier, a ndinsertthe screwintothe threaded
holeof the hexshaft.
Gradually t ighten the hexscrewto fullyseatthe bearings ineach
sideof the frameandto secure the hexshaft.
17. Position the framecoveronthe bottomof the frameandsecure
with the self-tapping screws. P ivotthe snowthrowerdownto it
normaloperatingposition.
