Adjustments
Auger and Drive Control Cables
SkidShoes
Itis not recommended t hat youoperatethissnowthroweron gravelasit can
easilypickup andthrowloosegravel,causing personal injury or damage to the
snowthrowerandsurrounding property.
Thesnowthrowerskidshoes areadjustedupwardat the factoryfor shipping
purposes. Adjustthemdownwardpriorto operatingthe machine.
Forclose snowremoval o n asmoothsurface, a djustthe skidshoes sothatthe shave
plateon the bottomof the augerhousingisjust offthe ground.
Adjustthe skidshoes to alowerpositionto raisethe shave plateoffthe ground
whenclearing unevenareas, s uch asa ribbontype drivewayor agraveldriveway
NOTE: Ifyouchoose to operatethe snowthroweron agravel s urface, k eepthe skid
shoes in positionfor maximum clearance between the groundandthe shave plate.
Toadjust the skid shoes:
1.
Adjust skid shoes b yloosening thesix(three oneach side) h exnuts and
carriage b oltssecuring theskid shoes t otheauger housing. R efer toFigure
12.

Whileobserving the distance betweenthe shaveplateandthe ground,
adjustthe skidsshoes up or downto achieve the desired shaveplateheight.
SeeFigure 12.

Makecertainthe entirebottomsurface of skidshoes areagainsttheground
to avoiduneven wearonthe skidshoes; t hentightennutsandboltssecurely.
Priorto operatingyoursnowthrower, c arefullyreadandfollowall instructions
below.Perform all adjustments to verifyyoursnowthrowerisoperatingsafely
andproperly.
TestingAugerDriveControl
Whenthe augercontrol i s released a ndin the disengaged " up" position, t he cable
shouldhaveverylittle slack, b ut shouldNOT betight. Refer t o Figure 13for location
of controls.

Inawell-ventilated area,startthe snowthrowerengineasinstructed inthe
Operation section.
2.
Whilestandinginthe operator's position(behindthesnowthrower),engage
the augercontrolandallowthe augerto remainengaged for approximately
ten seconds b eforereleasing the augercontrol.Repeat t hisseveral times.
NOTE: Whenengaging the auger, y ou mayheara"chirp"sound. T hisis normal,it
is the beltengaging the pulley.Asthe belt wears, t hissound will not beheardwhen
engaging the auger.

With the enginerunningandthe augercontrolin thedisengaged "up"
position, w alkto the front of the machine. C onfirm thatthe augerhas
completely stoppedrotatingandshows nosignsof motion.
4.
Ifthe augershows anysigns of rotating,immediately returntothe operator's
positionandshutoff the engine. W aitfor all movingpartsto stop before
readjusting the augercontrolcable.
