19.3.1

Initial Check Items

• When a paper misfeed occurs in the printer, first make the following initial checks.
Does the paper meet product specifications?
Is the paper curled, wavy, or damp?
Is the paper transport path deformed, dirty, or
obstructed with foreign matter?
Are the Paper Separator Fingers dirty, deformed, or
worn?
Is the roller dirty, deformed, or worn?
Are Edge Guides at correct position to accommodate
paper?
Does the actuator operate correctly when checked?
Precautions for Clearing Misfeed
• Reset the misfeed condition by opening and closing the Front Door after the mis-
feed has been cleared.

• Replace paper.
• Replace paper.
• Instruct user in correct paper storage.
• Clean the paper path and replace if neces-
sary.
• Replace Fusing Unit.
• Clean the roller and replace if necessary.
• Slide the Edge Guides up against the edges
of the paper stack.
• Correct or replace the actuator.
