Installing Windows 95
To install the Intel® SpeedStep™ Technology applet
If you've installed a retail version of Windows, you'll need to install the Intel®
SpeedStep™ technology applet if you have a dual-speed Pentium III processor.
The Intel SpeedStep files are located on the Recovery CD under
\HP\DRIVERS\W95\SPEEDSTP.
1. Double-click SETUP.EXE in the SpeedStep directory.
2. When prompted, click NEXT.
3. Click FINISH to reboot your computer.
Upon successful installation, a SpeedStep icon appears on the bottom right corner of the
taskbar.

To install infrared support

If you've installed Windows 95 and you wish to use infrared, you'll need to install
infrared support. These drivers are located on the HP Notebook's hard drive or on the
Recovery CD in \HP\DRIVERS\W95\IRDA.
1. Reboot the HP Notebook.
2. When you see the HP logo, press F2 to enter the BIOS Setup utility.
3. Go to the System Devices menu.
4. Set the Infrared Port to Enabled. FIR mode will be selected by default.
5. Save and exit the BIOS Setup utility.
6. When Windows starts, it will detect a new device, use the default answers to any
installation questions.
7. From the Start Menu, click Run.
8. Enter D:\HP\DRIVERS\W95\IRDA\SETUP.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Next to accept the default directory.
11. Click Next to accept the default Program Folder.
12. Select the "Generic IR Serial Port" and click Next.
