MSTP Configuration Guidelines
This section provides important information about configuring Multiple Spanning Tree
Groups:
When you enable MSTP, you must configure the Region Name, and a default version
number of 1 is configured automatically.
Each bridge in the region must have the same name, version number, and VLAN mapping.
MSTP Configuration Example
This section provides steps to configure Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol on the GbE Switch
Module, using the Command-Line Interface (CLI).
Configure Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol
1.
Configure port and VLAN membership on the switch.
2.
Set the mode to Multiple Spanning Tree, and configure MSTP region parameters.
>> /cfg/l2/mrst
>> Multiple Spanning Tree# mode mstp
>> Multiple Spanning Tree# on
>> Multiple Spanning Tree# name xxxxxx
3.
Assign VLANs to Spanning Tree Groups.
>> /cfg/l2/stg 2
>> Spanning Tree Group 2# add 2
