C1 Enhanced Mode
Set to Enabled to enable Enhanced Halt State to lower CPU voltage/frequency to
prevent overheat. The options are Enabled and Disabled. (Note: please refer to
Intel's web site for detailed information.)
Execute Disable Bit
Set to Enabled to enable Execute Disable Bit and allow the processor to classify
areas in memory where an application code can execute and where it cannot, and
thus preventing a worm or a virus from inserting and creating a fl ood of codes to
overwhelm the processor or damage the system during an attack. The options are
Disabled and Enabled. (Note: For more information, please refer to Intel's and
Microsoft's web sites.)
Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch
The CPU fetches the cache line for 64 bytes if this option is set to Disabled. The
CPU fetches both cache lines for 128 bytes as comprised if Enabled. The options
are Disabled and Enabled.
Hardware Prefetch
Set to this option to enabled to enable the hardware components that are used in
conjunction with software programs to prefetch data in order to shorten execution
cycles and maximize data processing effi ciency. The options are Disabled and
Enabled.
Direct Cache Access
This feature accelerates the performance of TOE devices. Note: A TOE device is
a specialized, dedicated processor that is installed on an add-on card or a network
card to handle some or all packet processing of this add-on card. For this moth-
erboard, the TOE device is built inside the ESB 2 South Bridge chip. This feature
is supported only by some types of processors. The options are Enabled and
Disabled. If this feature is enabled, the following item will display.
DCA Prefetch Delay (Available when Direct Cache Access is
enabled.)
A DCA Prefetch is used with TOE components to prefetch data in order to
shorten execution cycles and maximize data processing effi ciency. Prefetching
too frequently can saturate the cache directory and delay necessary cache ac-
cesses. This feature reduces or increases the frequency the system prefetches
data. The options are [8], [16], [32], [40], [48], [56], [64], [72], [80], [88], [96],
[104], [112], [120]
