Operation
SafetyInterlockSystemTests
WARNING
This unit is equippedwith safety interlockswitches
and othersafety devices.These safety systemsare
presentfor yoursafety: do not attemptto bypass
safety switches,and never tamper with safety
devices. Checktheir operationregularly.
Your unit is equipped with a seat switch safety system.
Checkthe seat switch operation every fall and spring with
the following tests.
Test I -- Engine
• PTOswitch
• Brakepedal
should NOTcrank if:
is ON, OR
is NOT fully depressed (parking brake OFF),
Test2 -- Engine
• PTOswitch
• Brakepedal
SHOULDcrank if:
is OFF,AND
is fully depressed (parking brake ON)
Test3 -- EngineshouldSHUT OFF if:
• Operator rises off seat with PTOengaged,OR
• Operator rises off seat with brake pedal NOTfully
depressed (parking brake OFF).
Test4 -- Blade Brake Check
Mower blades and mower drive belt should come to a
complete stop within five seconds after electric PTOswitch
is turned OFF(or operator rises off seat). If mower drive belt
does not stop within five seconds, re-adjust the PTOclutch
as described in the ADJUSTMENTSsection or seeyour
dealer.
Test 5 -- Reverse Mow Option(RMO) Check
• Engine should shut off if: PTOis engaged AND RMO is
not activated AND reverse pedal is depressed.
• RMO light should illuminate if: RMO is engaged AND
PTOswitch is activated.
Note: Once the engine has stopped, the PTOswitch must be
turned off after the operator returns to the seat in order to
start the engine,
WARNING
If the unit doesnot passa safetytest, do not operate
it. See your authorizeddealer. Under no
circumstance shouldyou attemptto defeat the
purposeof the safety interlocksystem.
Be sure to read all informationin the Operator
Safety and Operationsectionsbefore attempting to
operate this unit. Becomefamiliar with all of the controls
and how to stopthe unit.

WARNING
Gasoline is highlyflammable and must be handled
with care. Neverfill the tank when the engine is still
hot from recent operation.Do not allow openflame,
smokingor matchesin the area. Avoidover-filling
and wipe up any spills.

Q
Do not use gasolinecontainingMETHANOL,gasohol
containingmore than 10% ETHANOL, g asoline
additives, or white gas because engine/fuelsystem
damage could result.
Adding Fuel
To add fuel:
1. Remove the fuel cap (A, Figure 10).
2. Fill the tank. Do not overfill. Leaveroom in the tank for
fuel expansion. Refer to your engine manual for specific
fuel recommendations.
3. Install and hand tighten the fuel cap.
