Restoring only the selected trans or diff backup session is useful if the database
remains offline or in the Admin mode after a restore from full backup session,
which is then followed by a restore from diff or trans backup session.
NOTE:
During the restore or migration, the archive logs on the SAP DB/MaxDB Server are never
deleted.

Before you begin

If you intend to restore to another SAP DB/MaxDB instance:
Install the Data Protector SAP DB integration on the SAP DB/Max DB Server
system to which you want to restore.
Add the SAP DB/MaxDB client to the Data Protector cell.
Configure SAP DB/Max DB users as described in
users.
Configure the instance to which you want to perform the restore. See
SAP DB/MaxDB
NOTE:
If you are using the Data Protector GUI, you can configure the instance during the restore
process.
During the restore to another SAP DB/MaxDB instance, the existing data is overwritten
and the existing redo logs are deleted.

Restoring using the Data Protector GUI

1.
In the Context List, click Restore.
2.
In the Scoping Pane, expand SAP DB Server, expand the client from which the
data to be restored was backed up, and then click the SAP DB/Max DB instance
you want to restore.
