Before Starting
Engine
WARNING:Read, understand, and follow all
instructionsand warnings on the machine and in
this manual beforeoperating.
Oil
Theengine wasshippedwith oil in the engine,Checkoil levelbefore
eachoperationto ensureadequateoil in the engine,Forfurther
instructions,referto thestepson page 17,
1, Removethe dipstickfrom the oil fill,
2 Checkand makesurethat the levelof oil is up to the FULLmarkon
the dipstick,
3, If theoil levelis notup to FULL,pourfresh motoroil (5%30, with
a minimumclassification of %/%) slowlythroughthe opening,
Replaceoil fill dipstickand checkoil levelagain,
Gasoline
WARNING:Use extreme cars when handling
gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and
the vapors are explosive. Neverfusl the machine
indoorsor while the engine is hot or running.
Extinguish cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other
sources of ignition.
• Storegasolinein a clean, approvedcontainerand keepthe capin
placeon the container,

Makesurethat the containerfrom which you pourthe gasolineis
cleanand freefrom rust or otherforeignparticles,
NOTE:A plasticdust cap maybe foundinsidethefuel fill opening,
Removeanddiscard,if present,
Alwaysfill the fueltank outdoorsand usea funnelor spoutto
preventspilling,
• Fill fueltank with clean,fresh, unleadedgasoline,
• Neverfill the fueltank completely,Fill the tank to within 1/2"from
the topto providespacefor expansionof fuel
• Makesureto wipe off anyspilledfuel beforestartingtheengine,
Starting

1, Attachspark plugwireto sparkplug, Makecertain the metal
loop on the end of the sparkplug wire(insidethe rubberboot)is
fastenedsecurelyoverthe metaltip on thespark plug,
2, Makecertain boththe augercontroland drivecontrolare in the
disengaged(released)position,
3, Movethrottlecontrolup to FASTposition,Insertignitionkeyinto
slot,Make sureit snaps intoplace, Do notattemptto turnthe key,
NOTE:The enginecannotstart withoutthe key is fully insertedintothe
ignitionswitch,
Electric
Starter
1, Determinethat yourhome'swiringis a three-wiregroundedsystem,
Ask a licensedelectricianif you are not certain,
WARNING: The optional electric starter is
equipped with a grounded three-wire power
cord and plug, and is designed to operate
on 120 volt AC household current. It must
be used with a properly grounded three-
prong receptacle at all times to avoid the
possibility of electric shock.
If your home's wiring system is not a three-
wire grounded system, do not use this
electric starter under any conditions.
If your home electrical system is grounded,
but a three-hole receptacle is not available,
do not use your snow thrower's electric
starter.
Follow all instructions carefully prior to
operating the electric starter.
if you havea groundedthree-prongreceptacle,proceedas follows:
1, Plug the extensioncord intothe outlet locatedon the engine's
surface,Plug theother end of extensioncord intoa three-prong
120-volt,grounded,ACoutlet in a well-ventilated area,
2, Rotatechokecontrolto FULL chokeposition(for a coldengine
start),
NOTE:If theengine is alreadywarm,placechokecontrolin the OFF
positioninsteadof FULL,
3, Pushthe primertwo or three timesforcold enginestart, making
sure to covervent hole in the centerof the primerwhenpushing,
NOTE:DO NOTuse primerto restarta warmengine aftera short
shutdown,
4, Pushstarterbuttonto startengine,
5, Oncethe engine starts,releasestarterbutton,
6, As the enginewarms,slowlyrotatethe chokecontrolto the OFF
position,If theenginefalters,quicklyrotatethe chokecontrol back
to FULLand thenslowlyintothe OFF positionagain,
7, Whendisconnecting the extensioncord, alwaysunplugthe end at
the three-prongwall outlet beforeunpluggingtheoppositeend from
the snow thrower,
Recoil Starter
1, Rotatechokecontrolto FULL chokeposition(coldenginestart),
NOTE:If theengine is alreadywarm,placechokecontrolin the OFF
positioninsteadof FULL,
