2, Pushthe primertwo or threetimesfor cold enginestart, making
sureto covervent hole in the centerof the primerwhenpushing,
NOTE: DONOT useprimerto restarta warm engineafter a short
shutdown,
NOTE:Additionalprimingmaybe necessaryif the temperatureis
below15° Fahrenheit,
3, Graspthe recoilstarterhandleand slowlypull the ropeout, At the
pointwhereit becomesslightlyharderto pull the rope,slowlyallow
the ropeto recoil
4, Pull thestarter handlewith a firm, rapid stroke,Donot releasethe
handleand allowit to snapback,Keepa firm holdon thestarter
handleand allowit to slowlyrecoil
5, As theengine warms,slowlyrotatethe chokecontrolto the OFF
position,If the enginefalters,quicklyrotatethe chokecontrolback
to the FULLpositionand thenslowlyinto the OFF positionagain,
NOTE:Allowthe engineto warm up for a few minutesafter starting,
The enginewill notdevelopfull poweruntilit reachesoperating
temperatures,
Stopping
The Engine
Runenginefor a few minutesbeforestoppingto helpdry off any
moistureon the engine,

Tohelp preventpossiblestarterfreeze-up,proceedas follows:

Starter
1, Connectextensioncordto the electricstarteroutleton theengine,
thento 120volt AC outlet,
2, With theengine running,pushthe starterbuttonand allowthe
starterfor spinfor severalseconds,The noisemadebythe starter
is normal Theengine'sstarteris not being harmed,
3, Whendisconnecting the extensioncord, alwaysunplugthe end at
the three-prongwalloutlet beforeunplugging the oppositeend from
the snowthrower,
4, Movethrottlecontrolto STOPposition,
5, Removetheignitionkey and store in a safe place,
6, Wipeall snow and moisturefrom thearea aroundthe engineas
wellas the area in and aroundthe drivecontroland augercontrol
Also,engageand releasebothcontrolsseveraltimes,
Chute C ean-Out TooR
The chutecleamouttool is conveniently fastenedto the rearof the
auger housingwith a mountingclip, Shouldsnowand ice become
lodgedin the chute assemblyduringoperation,proceedasfollowsto
safelycleanthe chuteassemblyand chuteopening:
1, Releaseboththe AugerControland the DriveControl
2, Stoptheengine by removingthe ignitionkey,
3, Removethe cleamouttool from the clipwhich securesit to the rear
of the auger housing,
WARNING: The muffler, engine and sur-
rounding
areas become hot and can cause
a burn. Do not touch.
4, Usethe shovel-shaped end of the cleamouttoolto dislodgeand
scoop anysnow and ice whichhas formedin and nearthe chute
assembly,
5, Refastenthecleamouttoolto the mountingclipon the rear of the
auger housing,reinsertthe ignitionkeyand startthe snowthrower's
engine,
6, Whilestandingin the operator'sposition(behindthe snowthrower),
engagethe augercontrol fora few secondsto clear anyremaining
snow and ice from thechute assembly,
To Engage Drive
1, With the throttlecontrolin the Fast(rabbit)position,moveshift
leverintoone of the six forward(F) positionsor two reverse(R)
positions,Selecta speedappropriatefor the snowconditionsand a
paceyou'recomfortablewith,
NOTE: Whenselectinga Drive Speed,usethe slowerspeedsuntil
you are comfortableand familiarwith theoperationof the snow
thrower,
2, Squeezethe augercontrolagainstthe handleand the augerswill
turn, Releaseit and the augerswill stop,
3, Squeezethe drivecontrolagainstthe handlethe snowthrowerwill
move,Releaseit and drivemotionwill stop,
IMPORTANT: NEVERrepositionthe shift lever(changespeedsor
directionof travel)withoutfirst releasingthe drivecontroland bringing
the snowthrowerto a completestop,Doingso will result in premature
wearto the snow thrower'sdrivesystem,
Recoil
Starter
1, With enginerunning,pull starterrope with a rapid,continuousfull
armstrokethreeor fourtimes, Pullingthe starterrope will produce
a loud clatteringsound,which is notharmfulto engine,
2, Movethrottlecontrolto STOPposition,
3, Removetheignitionkey and store in a safe place,
4, Wipeall snow and moisturefrom thearea aroundthe engineas
wellas the area in and aroundthe drivecontroland augercontrol
Also,engageand releasebothcontrolsseveraltimes,
