Gasolne
Use automotive gasoline(unleadedor low leadedto minimizecombus-
tionchamberdeposits)with a minimumof 87 octane.Gasolinewith
up to 10%ethanolor 15%MTBE(MethylTertiaryButyl Ether)canbe
used. Neverusean oil/gasolinemixtureor dirty gasoline.Avoidgetting
dirt, dust,or waterin thefuel tank. DO NOTuse E85gasoline.

Refuelin a well-ventilated areawith the engine stopped.Donot
smokeor allowflamesor sparksin the area wheretheengine is
refueledor wheregasolineis stored.

Do notoverfillthe fuel tank.After refueling,makesurethe tank
cap is closedproperlyand securely.

Be carefulnot to spillfuel when refueling.Spilledfuelor fuelvapor
may ignite.If any fuel is spilled,makesurethe area is dry before
startingtheengine.

Avoidrepeatedor prolongedcontactwith skin or breathingof
vapor.
Useextremecarewhenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremely
flammableand the vaporsare explosive.Neverfuel the machine
indoorsor whilethe engineis hot or running.Extinguishcigarettes,
cigars,pipes andother sourcesof ignition.

Cleanaroundfuelfill beforeremovingcap to fuel.
A fuel levelindicatoris locatedin the fuel tank. Filltank untilfuel
reachesthe fuel levelindictor.See Figure10 inset.Be carefulnot
to overfill.
Starting
The Engine
Determinethat yourhome'swiringis a three-wiregroundedsystem.
Ask a licensedelectricianif you are notcertain.
If you havea groundedthree-prongreceptacle,proceedas follows.
If you do not havethe properhousewiring, DONOT usethe electric
starterunder anyconditions.
1.
Plugthe extensioncord intothe outlet locatedon the engine's
surface.Plug the otherend of extensioncord intoa three-prong
120-volt,grounded,AC outlet in a well-ventilated area.
2.
Movethrottlecontrolto FAST(rabbit)_
position.
3.
Movechoketo the ONposition 1,,#'1(coldengine start). If engine
is warm,placechoke in OFF position.
4.
Pushprimerthreeto five (3-5) times,makingsureto covervent
hole when pushing.If engineis warm,pushprimeronly once.
Alwayscover vent holewhenpushing.Coolweathermay require
primingto be repeated.
5.
Pushstarterbuttonto startengine.Oncetheengine starts,im-
mediatelyreleasestarterbutton.Electricstarteris equippedwith
thermaloverloadprotection;systemwill temporarilyshut-downto
allow starterto cool if electricstarterbecomesoverloaded.
6.
As the enginewarms,slowlyrotatethechoke controlto OFF
position.If the enginefalters, restartengineand runwith choke
at half-chokepositionfor a shortperiod of time,and thenslowly
rotatethe choke intoOFF position.
Whendisconnecting,alwaysunplugthe end at thewall outlet
beforeunpluggingtheoppositeend from the engine.

Alwayskeephandsand feetclear of movingparts.Do notuse a
pressurizedstartingfluid. Vaporsare flammable.
NOTE: Forlocationof all the enginecontrolsreferredto in this section,
referto Fig. 9 on page 12.
NOTE:Allowtheengineto warmup for a few minutesafter starting.
Theenginewill not developfull poweruntil it reachesoperating
temperatures.

Makecertain boththe augercontroland drivecontrolare in the
disengaged(released)position.
2.
insert ignitionkeyinto slot. Makesureit snaps intoplace. Donot
attemptto turnthe key.
NOTE:The enginecannotstart withoutthe key fully insertedintothe
Electric

Theoptionalelectricstarteris equippedwith a groundedthree-wire
Donot pull the starterhandlewhiletheengine running.
1. Movethrottlecontrolto FAST(rabbit)_
position.
2. Movechoketo the ONposition lJ 1(coldengine start), if engine is
warm,placechokein OFF position.
3. Pushprimerthreeto five (3-5) times,makingsureto covervent
hob when pushing,if engineis warm,pushprimeronly once.
Alwayscover vent hob whenpushing.Coolweathermay require
primingto be repeated.
4. Pullgently on the starterhandleuntil it beginsto resist,thenpull
quicklyand forcefullyto overcomethe compression. D o not release
the handleand allowit to snapback. Returnrope SLOWLY to
originalposition,if required,repeatthis step.
5. As the enginewarms,slowlyrotatethechoke controlto OFF
position,if the enginefalters, restartengineand runwith chokeat
hal-choke positionfora short period of time,and thenslowlyrotate
the choke intoOFF position.

Followall instructionscarefullypriorto operatingthe electricstarter.

unattendedwith the enginerunning.Turnthe engineoff after useand
removeignitionkey.
