Clean-Out Tool
Neveruseyourhandsto clearacloggedchute assembly. S hutOFF engine
and remainbehind handles until all movingpartshavestopped before
using the dean-out toolto clearthechuteassembly.
Thechuteclean-out t ool isconveniently f astened to the rearof theaugerhousing
with amountingclip.Should snowandicebecome lodgedin the chuteassembly
duringoperation, p roceed asfollowsto safelycleanthe chuteassembly a ndchute
opening:
1.
Release b oththe augercontrolandthe drivecontrol.
2.
Stopthe enginebyremoving the safetykeyor positionthethrottle to the
STOP p osition.
3.
Remove t he clean-outtoolfrom the clipwhichsecures i t to the rearof the
augerhousing.
4.
Use the shovel-shaped e ndof the clean-out t ool to dislodge andscoopany
snowandicewhichhasformedin andnearthe chuteassembly.
5.
Refasten the clean-out t ool to the mountingclipon the rearof the auger
housing, r einsertthesafetykeyandstartthe snowthrower'sengine.
6.
Whilestandinginthe operator's position(behindthe snowthrower), e ngage
the augercontrol f or afewseconds t o clearanyremaining snowandicefrom
the chuteassembly.
BeforeStartingEngine
Read,understand,andfollow all instructions a ndwarnings on the
machineand in this manualbefore operating.
Oil
Theunit wasshipped with oil inthe engine.Check oil levelbeforeeachoperationto
ensure adequate oil in theengine.
NOTE: Besuretocheck the engine on alevelsurface with the enginestopped.
1.
Remove t he oil filler cap/dipstick andwipethe dipstickclean.
2.
Insertthe cap/dipstick into the oil filler neck,but do NOT screwit in.
3.
Remove t he oil filler cap/dipstick. I fthe levelis low,slowlyaddoil (5W-30,
with aminimumclassification ofSF/SG) until oil levelregisters betweenhigh
(H)andlow (L).
4.
flOTE: D onotoverfill.Overfillingwith oil mayresultin enginesmoking, h ard
startingor sparkplugfouling.
Replace a ndtightencap/dipstick firmly beforestartingengine.
Gasoline
Use automotivegasoline (unleaded or low leadedto minimizecombustion chamber
deposits) w itha minimumof87 octane. G asoline with up to 10%ethanolor 15%
MTBE (Methyl T ertiaryButylEther) canbeused. N everuseanoil/gasoline mixture
or dirty gasoline. A voidgettingdirt, dust,or waterinthe fuel tank.DO NOT useE85
gasoline.
Refuel i n awell-ventilated areawith theenginestopped. D onot smokeor
allowflamesor sparksintheareawherethe engineisrefueled or where
gasoline isstored.
Donot overfill the fueltank.Afterrefueling,makesurethe tankcapisclosed
properlyandsecurely.
Becareful n ot to spillfuel whenrefueling. S pilledfuelor fuel vapormay
ignite.If anyfuel isspilled,makesurethe areaisdry beforestartingthe
engine.
Avoidrepeatedor prolonged contactwith skinor breathingofvapor.
Useextreme carewhen handlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammable andthe vaporsareexplosive.Neverfuel the machineindoorsor
while the engine ishotor running. Extinguishcigarettes, cigars,pipes and
other sourcesof ignition.

Clean aroundfuelfill beforeremoving capto fuel.
2.
Filltank untilfuel reaches 1/2 inchbelowthe bottomof the filler neckto
allowspace forfuel expansion. Becareful n ot to overfill.
Starting Engine
Alwayskeephands andfeet clearof moving parts. Donot usea pressurized
starting fluid. Vaporsareflammable.
flOTE: A llowthe engineto warmupfora fewminutesafterstarting.The enginewill
notdevelop full poweruntil it reaches o perating temperatures.
1.
Makecertainboththe augercontrolanddrivecontrolareinthe disengaged
(released) p osition.
2.
Insertsafetykeyintoslot. Makesureit snapsinto place. D onot attemptto
turn the safetykey.
NOTE: Theenginecannotstartwithoutthe safetykeyfully insertedintothe
ignitionswitch.
ElectricStarter
Theelectricstarter is equippedwith a groundedplug, andis designedto
operateon 120V AChousehold current. It mustbe usedwith aproperly
groundedthree-prong receptacleat all times to avoidthe possibility
of electrk shock.Follow all instructionscarefully prior to operating the
electricstarter. DO NOT useelectricstarter in the rain.
Determine thatyourhome's wring isa three-wiregrounded system. A ska licensed
electrician if youarenot certain.
Ifyouhaveagrounded three-prongreceptacle, proceed asfollows.If youdonot
have the properhouse wiring, DO NOT usethe electricstarterunderanyconditions.
1.
Pluganextension cordinto the outletlocated on the engine's surface. P lug
the otherendof extension cordintoa three-prong120V, grounded, A Coutlet
in awell-ventilated area.
Theextensioncordcan beany length, but must be ratedfor 15Aat 125V,
groundedand ratedfor outdoor use.
2.
Movethrottlecontrolto FAST (rabNt)_J_II position.
