may be blurred
when setting
"PROGRESSIVE
MODE" to
"FILM" or "AUTO".
MONITOR TYPE is not correctly
set.
Television

It depends on the setting on the TV.
Select correctly.
Use a playable disc. (See page 4.)
Set the Scan mode selector
on the rear
panel to "480i", or set it to "REMOTE" and
make the Progressive
scan mode inactive
by using the VFP-PROGRESSIVE
SCAN
button
(see pages 7 and 8).
Connect the unit so that the picture signal
flows directly
to the TV.
Set "PROGRESSIVE
MODE" to "VIDEO".

Set the television

Adjust
the TV screen using the control
on
the TV.
Symptom
No audio is reproduced.
No audio is reproduced
when playing
back
a DVD disc recorded
with
High-sampling
(88.2 kHz or more) linear PCM audio using
the DIGITAL OUT jack.
Audio volume
is low when playing
back the
unit, compared
with the TV or VCR.
Possible
cause
Connection
is incorrect.
Input selection
of amplifier
is incorrect.
The audio signal is not derived from the
unit's DIGITAL OUT. (See page 50.)
The audio level recorded
on a DVD VIDEO
is lower, compared
with TV broadcasting.
Remedy
Check the connection.
Select correctly.
Use AUDIO OUT when playing
back such
discs.
Turn up the volume
of the TV or amplifier/
receiver.
Note that you should turn down the volume
before switching
back to TV broadcasting,
to prevent outputting
the sudden
big
sound.
Sound is distorted
or noise is generated.
Disc is dirty.
Wipe the disc surface. (See page 5.)
