*Holding indicates that differential data to be used for a delta resync operation does not exist in the storage system,
or the storage system cannot judge whether the delta resync operation can be performed without the differential data.
When the differential data to be used for a delta resync operation does not exist in the secondary site of Cnt Ac-S Z
even if you update the data from the host on the primary site, the differential data might have been discarded due to
the following:
The cache or shared memory was added to or reduced from the storage system during the maintenance work.
The storage system was powered off during the maintenance work.
The Cnt Ac-J Z pair or Cnt Ac-S Z pair was suspended, and then the pair has been resynchronized.
The journal volume could not be accessed because the disaster or failure occurred in the secondary site of Cnt Ac-S
Z.
When a problem is fixed, differential data are stored in the Cnt Ac-S Z secondary site again if you update the data
in the primary site.
The status in which the delta resync operation can be executed without the differential data for the delta resync means
that the data update to the primary site is not executed or the both data of the Cnt Ac-S Z secondary site and the Cnt
Ac-J Z secondary site are coincident because the data update is stopped. To make the above mentioned condition,
make the configuration to execute the delta resync operation to support the remote command devices, and then change
the status of all Cnt Ac-J Z pair and Cnt Ac-S Z pair which belong to the desired journal in the primary site to PAIR by
the resynchronizing operation.

Monitoring the system
Description
The pair is not synchronized. The pair is in transition from duplex or pending duplex
to suspended. When the suspension is requested (by user, primary storage system, or
secondary storage system), the status of all affected pairs changes to suspending. When
the suspension is complete, the status changes to suspended.
This pair is not synchronized. This pair is in transition from duplex, pending duplex, or
suspended to simplex. When the delete pair operation is requested (by user), the status
of all affected pairs changes to deleting (releasing). When the delete pair operation is
complete, the status changes to simplex.
The pair is ready for the delta resync operation. When the status of the Cnt Ac-J Z
P-VOL is Hold, incoming write data for the Cnt Ac-S Z S-VOL is stored in the master
journal volume.
Operations allowed on the pairs in Hold status:
- Delta resync
- Pair-delete
- Changing pair options
If you are using remote command devices for delta resync, this status indicates that
the conditions to successfully execute the delta resync operation are satisfied.
The pair status is changing to Hold because a pair for delta is being created.
Operations allowed in Holding status: delta resync, pair release, and changing pair
option.
This status is displayed when the environment of the delta resync operation to support
remote command devices is used.
If you execute the delta resync operation on a pair in Holding status, the operation
may fail. If you set the Delta resync Failure option to Entire to in the Change Journal
Option dialog box, all deferential data will be copied to a S-VOL.
An error occurred on the pair in Hold status.
When the status of P-VOL is Hlde, incoming write data for the Cnt Ac-S Z S-VOL is
not stored in the master journal volume.
Operations allowed on pairs in Hlde status are:
- Recovering pair status to standby (Hold)
- Pair-delete
- Changing pair options
