If you are using just one surround back speaker, connect it to the UNBALANCED or BALANCED PRE OUT For 5.1-channel playback, set "Set up "Amp Assign"" (vpage 52) to "Normal".

For 6.1-channel (Surround back speaker) playback, set "Set up "Amp Assign"" (vpage 52) to "Normal".
