Autodiscovery

Automatic Activation

Types of

There are two types of automatic activation:

automatic

activation

OpenView

Autodiscovery is activated automatically each time you start

startup

OpenView. Once OpenView is running, it activates autodiscovery

periodicallly, or whenever you open another OpenView map.

Proxy Agent

Each time you start a Proxy Agent, it sends a startup trap that

activates autodiscovery. Autodiscovery only requests client data

from the Proxy Agent that sent the trap. Any other Proxy Agents on

the network are polled according to the system defaults.
