Installation
Installing the Server in a Rack
Step 2.
Install the server onto the tray.
1. Remove the stand alone server from it's packing materials.
2. Ensure that the anti-tip feet or enclosure ballast are properly installed and secured.
WARNING
If anti-tip feet or ballast are not installed or are improperly installed the enclosure
can tip. Failure to follow this precaution can cause injury to personnel or damage to
equipment.
3. Make sure that the slide-tray is fully extended.
4. Using an approved lifting device, raise the server and carefully position it on the slide-tray so
that the two spring loaded guide pins snap into the guide holes in the bottom of the server.
CAUTION The typical rp5400 Series of Servers system can weigh up to 68kg (150 lbs). HP recommends
using an approved lifting device. Lift and move the server in accordance with all local
safety regulations. Failure to follow this precaution can cause injury to personnel or
damage to equipment.
5. Insert the rack ear covers into the brackets (rack ears) and slide the rp5400 Series of Servers
server into the enclosure.
6. Release the slide-tray latches and slide the server into the enclosure.
7. Using four M6 pan screws and split lock washers, secure the server to the rear brackets (5 and
6)
8. Using two M5x12 T25 pan head screws on each side, secure the front brackets of the server to
the upright posts of the enclosure.
