System Planning
This section provides you information for system planning.
2.1 Control Method
A TM printer can print and be controlled using any of the following three methods:
1. Windows printer driver (EPSON Advanced Printer Driver)
2. UPOS (OPOS, OPOS for .NET, JavaPOS)
3. ESC/POS commands
Depending on the driver or interface to be used, an IP setting tool for the Ethernet specification
and a logo registration utility for printing (TMFlash logo utility) are provided.

2.1.1 Windows Driver (EPSON Advanced Printer Driver)
The EPSON Advanced Printer Driver is a method for controlling the TM printer in the same
manner as the Windows standard printer driver.
2.1.1.1 General Features of EPSON Advanced Printer Driver

Allows you to print from commercially available applications, since the APD is a
Windows driver.

Allows you to print a Barcode and 2D-Code with the fonts built in the APD.

Allow you to print logos and graphics.
•
Allows you to send the paper cut command to the TM printer.
•
Allows you to send the open command to the cash drawer.

•
Achieves high speed printing using the Device fonts of the TM printer.
•
Allows you to convert the Windows fonts to the Device fonts.
•
Allows you to print an image such as a store logo faster by registering the image in the
TM printer.
