The following example illustrates how to use the light path diagnostics to diagnose
a system error:
1. Note that the blade-error LED on the control panel is lit.
2. Remove the blade server from the BladeCenter unit (see "Removing the blade
server from the BladeCenter unit" on page 22).
3. Place the blade server on a flat, static-protective surface.
4. Remove the cover from the blade server (see "Opening the blade server cover"
on page 24).
5. Press and hold the light path diagnostics button on the I/O board to relight the
I/O board LEDs that were lit before you removed the blade server from the
BladeCenter unit. The LEDs will remain lit for as long as you press the button,
to a maximum of 25 seconds.
6. Press the I/O-tray release and rotate the I/O-tray open. The I/O tray is hinged
and will support itself in the open position.
7. Press and hold the light path diagnostics button on the processor board to
relight the processor board LEDs that were lit before you removed the blade
server from the BladeCenter unit. The LEDs will remain lit for as long as you
press the button, to a maximum of 25 seconds.
Use the information in "Light path diagnostics LEDs" on page 74 to determine the
cause of the error and the action you should take.
