System Properties>FixUp>SMTP
The SMTP panel allows you to enable or disable the PIX Firewall to look into the payload of
apply the Adaptive Security Algorithm (ASA). You can specify the port(s) at which the PIX Firewall listens for
SMTP traffic. SMTP FixUp is enabled for port 25 by default.

Important Notes
SMTP FixUp enables the Mail Guard feature, which limits mail servers to the HELO, MAIL, RCPT, DATA,
RSET, NOOP, and QUIT commands. All other commands are rejected.

Field Descriptions
The SMTP panel displays the following fields:
SMTP table
Low Port—Displays the port number or lower port number range for the SMTP FixUp. The default
is 25.
High Port—Displays the upper port number range (if applicable) for the SMTP FixUp.
Add—Copies the new entry into the SMTP table.
Low—Allows you to enter a port number or lower port number range for addition to the SMTP table.
High—(optional) Allows you to enter an upper port number range for addition to the SMTP table.
Delete—Deletes the selected item.
Apply to PIX—Sends changes made in PDM to the PIX Firewall unit and applies them to the running
configuration.
Reset—Discards changes and reverts the panel to the information displayed when it was opened or the last
x.x.
