RPM4-AD is a sophisticated pressure setting and measuring instrument with advanced on-board features
and functions. Before assuming that unexpected behavior is caused by a system defect or breakdown, the
operator should use this manual and other training facilities to become thoroughly familiar with
RPM4-AD operation. This troubleshooting guide is intended as an aid in identifying the reason for RPM4-D
behavior and determining whether the behavior is due to normal operation or an internal or external problem.
Identify the symptom or unexpected behavior you are observing from the SYMPTOM list below.
A PROBABLE CAUSE is provided and a SOLUTION is proposed including references to manual
sections that provide information that may be of assistance.
SYMPTOM
Will not power up.
Cannot access certain functions
>ACCESS RESTRICTED<
Displays <FATAL ERROR> or
<FATAL FAULT>.
Displays <ERR# 60>.
Front panel keys seem to be
disabled.
Measured pressure display or
other displays have too much/not
enough resolution.
Values that should be non-zero
are displayed as zero.
Keypad presses make undesired
sounds or NO sounds.
Bottom line of display has
changed and you want to change
it back.
Bottom line of display is blank.
Cannot get to air data units
measurements
Cannot change altitude unit of
measure on bottom line of display.

PROBABLE CAUSE
Blown fuse.
User level has been set that restrict access
to certain functions.
Encountered unresolved internal software
conflict.
Unit of measure and measurement mode are
not compatible. Can only occur when unit
and measurement mode are set by remote
commands and unit of measure is an air data
unit (altitude in a mode other than absolute
or airspeed in absolute mode are
nonsensical).
<remote> command has been sent from a
host computer.
Resolution setting needs to be changed.
Resolution setting needs to be increased to
view significant digits.
Keypad sound settings are incorrect.
The DISPLAY function has been used to
change the display.
DISPLAY mode is "clean".
Not selecting correct Q-RPT and/or
measurement mode.
Not using correct feature.
UNIT function needs to be customized.
