    PRINTER INSTALLATION AND SETUP Connecting the Optional Feeder to the Printer A number of different feeder models can be used with the AS-980. Note: Please refer to the operations manual provided with your feeder for feeder setup instructions. A Feeder Interface Cable must be attached between the printer and feeder, as shown in Figure 9, so that the printer can stop/start the feeder appropriately.

    PRINTER INSTALLATION AND SETUP Installing the Ink Cartridges The AS-980 can accommodate six inkjet cartridges. Inkjet cartridges are installed as follows: Remove the inkjet cartridge from its packaging, taking care not to touch the copper contacts or the nozzle plate. Remove the protective tape from the inkjet cartridge.

    Address Recovery – In event of a jam or misprint; in the printer you can recover up to the last 9 records by using this feature. See “Print Recover After a Jam” for details on the use of this feature. © 2009 Neopost USA Inc. All rights reserved.

    Administrator Privileges. According to the Windows security model, only the Administrator can install the driver. 1. Insert the CD labeled Neopost Address Printer Installation. The installation program should start automatically, if it doesn’t, browse the CD and open the file named Install_Menu.

    SECTION 3 OPERATING THE PRINTER Printer Driver Properties The drivers for your AS-980 contain several settings that can be useful when using this type of printer: head alignment, feeder delay, text DPI and belt speed. Head Alignment The purpose of the Head Alignment is to permit slight (0.001-inch) horizontal adjustments to the position of the print heads to each other.

    This example was designed for the AS-73. Notice how the address data is positioned at the top of the page, within the first 1.5 inches of the top of the page. When using the AS-980 it can accommodate and print the first 3 inches of the page.

NOTE: When setting up a layout for the AS-980, be aware that the printheads are aligned in two banks and these banks can be aligned so that you can print in a 3” wide spread over the width of the media. Head 1 is on one rail and opposite it is heads 5 and 6.

    CLEAR THE NOZZLES BOTH OF THESE ACTIONS ACTUALLY HURT THE PRINT QUALITY BECAUSE THEY ALLOW BUBBLES TO FORM NEAR THE INK FIRING CHAMBERS. THESE BUBBLES PREVENT THE NOZZLES FROM FIRING CAUSING WHITE STREAKS IN THE PRINT IMAGE. © 2009 Neopost USA Inc. All rights reserved.
