5.6 Checking and Adjusting Auger Position
To promote ear-on-ear feeding through the auger, the auger height should be 32–38 mm (1 1/4–1 1/2 in.) on rigid headers
and the clearance between the rear of the auger and the rear horizontal stripper bar should be 6 mm (1/4 in.) on all
headers. The auger height is not adjustable on folding headers.
Rigid headers: You can use a 38 x 89 mm (2 x 4 in.) block of
wood as a gauge when setting the auger height.
1. Rigid headers: Check gap (A) between the auger flighting
and auger pan as shown in the illustration at right. If the
gap is less than or greater than 32–38 mm (1 1/4–1 1/2 in.),
adjustment is required.
