REAR WHEEL

WARNING
The disassembly and reassembly of the
rear wheel can be difficult for those un-
familiar with vehicle maintenance. You
may wish to have your Local aprilia
Dealer carry out these operations.
If you wish to perform these operations
yourself, carefully read p. 87 (MAINTE-
NANCE).
During disassembly and reassembly
operations, take care not to damage
pipe, brake disc and pads, ABS sensor
(18) and phonic wheel (19).
Before carrying out the following opera-
tions, let the engine and the exhaust si-
lencer cool down until they reach room
temperature.
Failure to observe this warning can lead
to serious burns.

Riding with damaged rims is dangerous
for the rider, the vehicle and other people.
Check the conditions of the rim and have
it replaced if it is damaged.
WARNING
Have the rim replaced by your Local
aprilia Dealer.
NOTE
To remove the rear wheel, the
vehicle must be equipped with the center
stand
.
DISASSEMBLY
WARNING
Use heavy work gloves while removing the
rear wheel. Use latex, rubber or nitrile
gloves for the maintenance operations
that require contact with grease or oil.
Loosen screw (20) and remove ABS
sensor.
Place the vehicle on the center stand (1)
, see p. 85 (PLACING THE VEHICLE
ON THE STAND).
Place a support (2) under the rear tire, in
such a way as to keep the wheel in its
position after loosening it.
WARNING
Make sure that the vehicle is stable.
If it falls over, it may cause injury to by-
standers and other property, as well as
being damaged itself.
