Die maximale Spindelgeschwindigkeit für die Planscheibe mit Durchmesser Ø250 mm darf 1255 nicht überschreiten. Wenn Gewindeschneiden oder automatischer Vorschub nicht im Gebrauch ist, muss sich der Wahlhebel Vorschubrichtung in neutraler Stellung befinden, um die Abkoppelung der Leitspindel und der Zugspindel zu sichern.

Durch Plandrehen werden ebene Flächen erzeugt, die rechtwinklig zur Werkstück-Drehachse liegen. Dabei unterscheidet man zwischen Quer-Plandrehen, Quer- Abstechdrehen und Längs-Plandrehen.
