to check the platen-to-main roller relation-
ship:
1.
disConneCt sander FroM poWer!
2.
remove the dust port and sanding belt.
3.
place a straightedge across the top part
of the platen graphite and the main roller
as shown in figure 51. Measure the gap, if
there is one, between the straightedge and
the main roller.

now place the straightedge across the
BottoM part of the platen graphite and the
main roller, as shown in figure 52. Measure
the gap, if there is one, between the straight-
edge and the main roller.

analyze the results of your check in Steps
3-4, using the criteria below:
— Correct Platen-to-Main Roller Relationship:
the distance between the straightedge
and the main roller is approximately
both the top and bottom. you do not need
to adjust the platen position or the main
roller position.
— Platen is Incorrect: the distances between
the straightedge and the main roller at both
the top and bottom are more or less than
/
", and the distances are about the same.

— Main Roller is Incorrect: the distance
between the straightedge and the main
roller is different at the top than it is at the
bottom. action: adjust the main roller (refer
to intructions on page 39).
to check the platen-to-idler roller relation-
ship:
1.
Follow Steps 1–2 from the previous instruc-
tions.
2.
place the straightedge across the top of the
platen graphite and the idler roller in a similar
manner to the method shown in figure 51.
Measure the gap, if there is one, between the
straightedge and the idler roller.
3.
place the straightedge across the BottoM
of the platen graphite and the idler roller.
Measure the gap, if there is one, between the
straightedge and the idler roller.
— Correct Platen-to-Idler Roller Relationship:
the distance between the straightedge
and the idler roller is approximately
both the top and bottom. you do not need
to adjust the idler roller position.
— Idler Roller Incorrect: the distances
between the straightedge and the idler
roller at both the top and bottom are more
