ENGINE MAINTENANCE - 11
Location and Service
Check coolant level - Fresh-water cooled
models only
Check oil level - Engine crankcase
Check oil level - Transmission
Engine Assembly (complete - Check for
obvious leaks (water, oil, fuel and exhaust)
Remote Control and Steering System -
Check for proper operation
Sea Strainer - Check (if equipped)
Cooling System - Check condition and
tightness of all hose clamps
Cooling System - Inspect/Replace
raw water pump impeller
Drive Belt - Inspect condition and check
tension
Exhaust System - Check condition and
tightness of all hose clamps
Exhaust System - Check for water leaks at
the manifold, riser and elbow gaskets
Ignition System and Spark Plugs - Clean
and inspect condition
Engine Assembly (complete) - Check for
loose, missing or damaged parts
(especially engine mounts, starter and
alternator mounting fasteners)
Change engine oil and fi lter
Engine Alignment - Check and adjust if
necessary
Ignition Timing - Not Adjustable
Battery - Check electrolyte level and
specifi c gravity. Inspect case for damage.
Check cables and connections.
Electrical System (complete) - Check for
loose or dirty connections and damaged
wiring
Flame Arrestor and Crankcase Ventilation
System - Clean and inspect
