Chapter 3 Introduction
Thorlabs' ODL100-FS(/M) Free-Space Optical Delay Line Kit offers customers a tested set of Thorlabs
components to build an optical delay line. The kit is based on our DDSM100(/M) long-travel, low-profile direct
drive stage, and is capable of tuning the optical delay up to 666.6 ps. Repeatable delay shifts down to 3.3
femtoseconds are achievable. The high accuracy and long-term stability of the stage make this system a suitable
choice for pump-probe spectroscopy, THz spectroscopy, interferometry, and related applications. The Optical
Delay Line Kit includes a periscope assembly that can accommodate input beam heights from 2.4" - 6" (60 mm -
152 mm). By using additional Ø1" Pillar Posts, the input beam height that can be accommodated is easily
increased.
The stage's V-block contains two lever-actuated irises and two kinematic mirror mounts. Four Ø1" ultrafast-
enhanced silver mirrors (UM10-AG) as well as a 1" knife-edge right-angle prism with a protected silver coating
(MRAK25-P01) are included. These mirrors provide high reflectance and minimal group delay, making them well
suited for use with femtosecond pulsed lasers.
