Warning: This unit is equipped with an internal combustion engine and should not be used on or near any unimproved forest-covered, brush-
covered or grass-covered land unless the engine's exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrester meeting applicable local or state laws (if any).
If a spark arrester is used, it should be maintained in effective working order by the operator. In the State of California the above is required by law
(Section 4442 of the California Public Resources Code). Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws apply on federal lands. A spark arrester

    WARNING: Use extreme caution unpacking this machine. Some components are very heavy and will require additional people or mechanical handling equipment. Setting Up IMPORTANT: Your log splitter may be shipped with motor oil in the engine. You MUST check the oil level before Your Log operating.
  • Page 7 Attaching The Hitch Assembly 1. Remove the hardware assembled on the hitch as- sembly and place the hitch on the end of the tongue. 2. Insert hex bolt through flat washer, end of safety chain, and then rear hitch hole. Pivot the end of safety chain so it faces the ball end of hitch.

  • Page 9 Pressure Hose The pressure hose is attached to the control valve. Pressure Hose 1. Route the hose between the beam and the tongue. 2. Secure the pressure hose to the adapter on the top of the pump. See Figure 3-9. Return Hose Setting Up The return hose is attached to the top of the control valve.

    Gib Adjustment Periodically remove and replace the “gibs” (spacers) between the wedge assembly and the back plate. NOTE: The gibs may be rotated and/or turned over for even wear. Maintaining 1. Loosen the lock nuts under each back plate and slide the gibs out.
  • Page 17 Hydraulic Fluid and Inlet Filter • Check the hydraulic fluid level in the log splitter reservoir tank before each use. Maintain fluid level within the range specified on the dipstick at all times. • Change the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir every 100 hours of operation.
