2.10 Snow Blower Storage
When the snow blower is not in operation for an undefined period, it should be stored inside a dry
building. If your snow blower is left outdoor unprotected, deterioration caused by the elements could
possibly be very costly.
The following procedure is recommended:
•
Clean snow blower entirely and dry all unpainted metal parts. Smear a light film of oil to prevent rust.
•
Lubricate all grease fittings.
•
Engine: Refer to engine operator's manual.
•
Drain and refill the main transmission oil, hydraulic oil, auger drive gearbox oil and drive chain case
oil with new recommended oil.
•
Making sure tank is properly ventilated.
•
If possible, close all snow blower cylinders.
•
Remove the batteries and store them in a cool dry place. Recharge every 6 months at a rate lower than
5 amps.
•
Cover exhaust pipe outlet.
•
Remove the drain plug on the muffler pipe to avoid any water gathering.
•
Run the engine and mechanical elements at least once a month.
