Replacement Method for Shear Bolts
If shear bolts break while operating, follow these instructions:
1. Reduce the engine revolution speed to the minimum and move back 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet)
to clear the front of the snow blower.
2. Disengage the clutch, apply the parking brakes and turn off the snow blower engine. Then, apply
the emergency stop button before proceeding with the repairs.
3. Make sure that there is nothing in the snow blower mechanism (remove the snow from the bin
and the drum); ensure that the fan and augers are rotating freely (by hand) before replacing the
bolts. If it is not the case, find out the source of the problem.
4. When the augers and the fan rotate freely, remove the broken shear bolts.
5. Install new shear bolts. Press the nuts against the lock washers and tighten an additional half
a turn.
6. Deactivate the emergency stop button of the unit, restart the engine and engage the clutch.
7. Your snow blower is now ready to be used.
IMPORTANT:
Use only manufacturer's recommended shear bolts. Using other kinds of shear
bolts may automatically void warranty. Inquire to your RPM Tech dealer concerning safety bolts.
