Software installation

This section describes how to install the Matrox Odyssey XG driver for Windows
2000/XP. The installation files for the driver include the Matrox PowerDesk
software. Matrox PowerDesk will allow you to change multi-display settings, and
includes many multi-display features. For more information on Matrox
PowerDesk, see the next section, Monitor setup and Matrox PowerDesk.
❖ Note that you might need administrator rights to install the Matrox Odyssey XG
driver. For more information, see Windows documentation.
To install the driver and Matrox PowerDesk:
1. After completing the hardware installation and restarting your computer (see the
Hardware installation and connection setup chapter), Windows will detect a new
hardware device. If a Matrox display driver has not been previously installed,
Windows prompts you to install the display driver. Follow the on-screen
instructions. One instruction will prompt you for the path of the .inf driver
installation file. The file is in the Matrox Imaging\Drivers\MGADRV\PSeries
folder of your Matrox Imaging software CD.
Matrox PowerDesk will be installed automatically when the driver is installed.
❖ Note that Matrox Odyssey XG will be recognized as Matrox Millennium P750.
2. Once the driver has been installed, you will be prompted to restart your computer.
3. After your computer has restarted, and you have logged in, Matrox Multi-Display
Setup Wizard will load automatically. This setup is a component of the Matrox
PowerDesk software, and it will guide you through the display initialization
process.
