The horizontal position of the expression pedals may also vary from type to type (of
instrument).
For the sake of symmetry, on instruments with panels left and right of the expression
pedals, the expression pedals are mostly placed exactly in the centre, whereas according
to BDO- and AGO-standards the expression pedals are not placed in the centre.

Thumb pistons

Depending on the design, you may come across a number of (lighted) thumb pistons under
the keyboards, under, behind or above the music desk.
The thumb pistons come in two versions:
Lighted thumb pistons
Lighted thumb pistons are finished as switches which spring back to the central position
after switching on or off. In each thumb piston a lamp has been fitted that comes on as
soon as it is activated.
