Operation tips
The following tips will help you safely and effectively operate your bandsaw, and help you get the maximum life out of your saw blades.
Tips for horizontal cutting:
1. Use work stop to quickly and accurately cut multiple pieces of stock to same length.
2. Clamp material firmly in vise to ensure a straight cut through the material.
3. Let blade reach full speed before engaging workpiece. Never start a cut with blade in contact with workpiece.
4. Wait until blade has completely stopped before removing workpiece from vise, do not touch the cut end, it could be very hot!
5. Support long workpieces so they won't fall when cut. It is recommended to flag ends of workpieces to alert others of potential danger.
6. Position blade guides approximately 1/4" from workpieces to minimize side-to-side blade movement.
7. Use coolant system when possible to increase blade life.
Tips for vertical cutting:
1. Workpieces that cannot be properly supported or stabilized without a vise should not be cut in the vertical position. Examples are chains, cables,
round or oblong-shaped workpieces, workpieces with internal or built-in moving or rotating parts, etc.
2. Make sure that vertical table assembly is securely fastened to bandsaw frame so it will adequately support workpiece.
3. Always keep your fingers away from blade and always hold workpiece securely with appropriate clamping device.
4. Adjust blade guides as close as possible to workpiece to minimize side-to-side blade movement.
Steps to take from beginning to end of cut
To complete a typical cut, follow these steps:
1. Lift head and close the cylinder feed On/Off valve to lock head above the vise.
2. Position workpiece on the table and secure it with the vise. Set-up the work stop if you
wish to use it.
3. Turn the main On/Off switch (A) Fig.21 to the On position. The control panel will light
up.
4. Turn on the coolant On/Off switch (B) Fig.21 to the On position if you wish to use the
coolant system. Make sure there is sufficient amount of coolant fluid in the reservoir.
5. On the control panel (A) Fig.22, select the material to cut by pressing either the F1, F2,
F3 or F4 buttons (F1-Non-ferrous/F2-Carbon Steel/F3-Stainless/F4-Tool Steel).
6. Press the On button (B) Fig.22 on the control panel to start the motor.
7. Adjust the speed range by turning the speed adjust knob (C) Fig.22.
8. Open feed On/Off valve (A) Fig.23, then slowly rotate feed rate control knob (B)
clockwise to a slow feed rate until blade begins to cut workpiece.
9. Observe chips that exit cut, and increase or decrease feed rate according to chip
characteristics.
10. Allow the bandsaw to complete the entire cut, once head reaches the base limit switch,
the bandsaw will automatically stop. In an emergency situation, you can stop the
bandsaw by pressing the large emergency stop button (D) Fig.22, or the Off button
(E). Both are found on the control panel.
