7 Prepare the device for operation

7.1 Telescopic antenna
The number and quality of channels received depends on the reception conditions at
the installation site. Excellent reception can be achieved with a DAB+/FM telescopic
antenna. To ensure the best reception, the antenna should be positioned at full
length.
>
Lift the telescopic antenna and stretch it lengthways.
The exact positioning of the telescopic antenna is often important, especially in
peripheral areas of DAB+ reception. On the Internet, for example, you can
quickly find the location of the nearest transmission mast at "www.dabplus.de".
Start your first search at the window towards the transmission tower.
In bad weather, DAB+ reception may only be possible to a limited extent.
Do not touch the telescopic antenna while listening to a station. This can lead
to poor reception and audio interruptions.
The signal strength is displayed in the top right corner of the display.
7.2 Connecting the power supply/charging the battery
>
Connect the power supply to an electrical outlet (100 - 240 V ~, 50/60 Hz) and
plug the other end of the cable into the power socket marked DC-IN (4).
>
Before connecting the appliance to an electrical socket, make sure that the
operating voltage of the appliance corresponds to the voltage of the local
electrical network.
>
Switch the power switch on the rear to the ON position.
When not in use, unplug the power supply from the electrical outlet.
During a storm, unplug the power supply.
If the device will not be used for an extended period of time, e.g. before going on a
long journey, unplug the power supply.
The internal battery recharges during mains power.
Hinweis:
The Transita 121 IR has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that charges as soon as the radio
is plugged in and switched on with the power switch. The first time it is used, the battery
must be charged for approximately 12 hours. Charging ends automatically when the battery
is fully charged. The charging status is shown on the display by the battery pictogram.
