13-4 Connection Password

The function of a connection password is to share this device with other particular devices without

allowing unintended connections from everyone.

If you want to require a password for connection, you can enable Connection Password Mode – for

more details please refer to 12-1-30. Write Bluetooth Mode and ensure that the H1 bit (Connection

Password Decryption Required for Every Connection) is set to 1, i.e. enable Connection Password

Mode.

Note that if you also set the P1 bit to 1 (P1: Pairing Required, as described in the section 12-1-30. Write

Bluetooth Mode), then only 1 paired device (device already paired with this device) can connect to

device at one time, and this connection cannot be shared with others. If you want to share this device

to others, then P1 must be set to 0.

Before scanning for device(s), you can check whether or not this device has enabled Connection

Password , i.e. please refer to 10. Advertising chapter and ensure that W1 is 1, meaning that

connection password has been enabled.

First ensure that the H1: (Connection Password Decryption Required for Every Connection) bit, as

described in the section 12-1-31. Read Bluetooth Mode , is set to 1.

If Connection Password is not previously set, the default Connection Password is (16 bytes Hex data) 00

The mobile device or PC will perform a BLE scan before making a connection. To check whether or not

Connection Password is enabled , please refer to 10. Advertising chapter and ensure that W1 is 1,

meaning that Connection Password has been enabled. Subsequently, after the mobile device or PC has

connected to this device, connection password decryption must be performed within 10 minutes. For
