TROUBLESHOOTING
Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is something wrong with this component, check the
points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other components and electrical appliances being used.
{f the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest PIONEER authorized service center or your dealer
to carry out repair work.

© AC cord is unplugged.
There's no power even when the
power switch is ON.
REMEDY
¢ Plug power cord into AC outlet.
There's no sound from the
speakers.
® The connecting cord has come out of the jack
or connection is incorrect.
¢ Volume is turned all the way down.
© MUTING is ON.
© Speaker cords are disconnected.
© Speaker cord is connected with vinyl insulation
still on.
® The amplifier input selector button is not in the
correct position for the component you're using.
¢ Unplug the power plug from the power outlet,
and check the cord connection.
* Raise the volume knob setting.
e Switch MUTING OFF.
* Connect speaker cords correctly.
¢ Strip vinyl insulation from speaker wire tips
before connecting.
* Select the correct input selector button position.
® Graphic equalizer, tuner or deck input/output
® Connect correctly.
cords are disconnected.
Even with power switched ON,
there's no power to the graphic
equalizer, tuner or deck.
© One of the speaker cords is disconnected or
damaged.
¢ Incorrect balance setting.
© Connect correctly or replace with good-quality
cord.
© Set balance to the center position.
Cassette tape deck
Cassette door will not open.
* Deck is still operating.
® Press the stop button (f).
© Power was cut during tape transport.
¢ Switch on the power again.
Cassette door will not close.
® Cassette tape is incorrectly inserted.
® Insert the cassette tape correctly.
Tape doesn't move.
* Deck is in pause mode.
© Press pause or play button.
* Cassette inserted incorrectly.
¢ Put cassette properly in holder.
© The tape has ended.
e Rewind the tape.
af Cantrecord.
Sound only comes from one side.
¢ Amplifier input selector button is in a position
other than TAPE.
© Playing unrecorded tape.
* Switch input to the TAPE position.
© Play recorded tape.

tabs are broken off.

tape recorded without Dolby NR.

¢ Use same noise reduction system for playback as
. for recording. (Do not play tapes recorded with
different NR systems.)
Sound is muddy.
Sound level is low.
* Tape recorded with DOLBY NR but played
without.
¢ Play in same condition as recording. (Turn on
DOLBY NR switch for recorded tapes with
Dolby NR.)
© TV power switch is ON.
¢ Switch power to the TV OFF.
¢ The unit is too close to the TV.
¢ Move TV away until interference stops.
© High speed copying.
* Copy using NORMAL instead of HIGH speed.
Treble is too pronounced.
When listening to tape, CD, or
radio broadcast, you can hear
whistling or boomy noise which
also appears on recordings.
