4. Wipe and dry the unit with a soft, absorbent, lint-free cloth. Make sure that there are no damp
spots on the connectors or in cracks and crevices.

Mechanical and Electrical Checks
Before conducting more complex tests, clean and check the unit for any mechanical defects that
might cause or contribute to the problem.
The following tests constitute the mechanical and electrical checks of the unit:

GPS Receiver

Voltage Recognition
5.5.1
Shock and Pressure Test
Use this test to check the ability of the unit to withstand shock and pressure.
NOTE: Perform this test with the rear cover securely in place and antenna completely pushed in.
To perform the shock and pressure test (test time approx. 3 min.):
1. Power up the unit.
2. Slap the front (display), sides, and back (battery) of the unit into the palm of your hand.
If the unit turns off, displays Reset, or goes red, retry this test with a battery known to be in
good working condition. Verify that the battery contacts are clean.
If the original battery is bad, replace it. If the reset problem persists, replace the unit.
3. Use your thumbs to apply pressure to the front (display), sides, and back (battery) of the unit.
If the unit turns off, displays Reset, or the LED goes red, retry this test with a battery known to
be in good working condition.
If the original battery is bad, replace it. If the reset problem persists, replace the unit.
4. Power down the unit. Send the defective unit to the iDEN Radio Support Center.

SIM Card Swap Test
Use this test to determine if the SIM card is defective, or if the unit is defective.
To perform the SIM card swap (test time approx. 5 min.):
